Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from spring of that year.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
